Benchmark · fresh race, same prompt

Grok 4.7 vs Opus 5, on a solar system.

One prompt: a stunning interactive solar system, single self-contained index.html, no libraries. This time the browser was already open, and each save could add only one planet. Grok 4.7 low, then Opus 5 high.

Terminal on the left, the page on the right. Grok first, then Opus. The sun arrives before the planets. Grok 362s, 439 lines. Opus 468s, 328 lines.

How each one did

Grok 4.7 low

362s

grok · prompt file

Wrote 439 lines. The sun shows up first, then the planets, then the orbits.

Drag to look around, scroll to zoom, space to pause. The names arrive on the last save.

Opus 5 high

468s

claude · claude-opus-5

Wrote 328 lines. Ten saves, one planet each.

Rings with a gap, a trail behind each planet, and a date that reads 20 Aug 2029. Speed, pause, and a jump back to today.

You can watch it get built. Grok low was done in about six minutes. Opus took just under eight, and the last frame has the date, the trails, and the rings. Same prompt. The slower page has more in it.

I run little races like this most weeks. The club is where they get shared first.
